Most people set goals.
Very few achieve them.
And here’s the truth… it’s not because they aren’t motivated or because they “didn’t want it bad enough.” It’s because they never built the system to actually make those goals happen.
Now, I’m assuming you already have some goals set — things you’re excited about and committed to. If you don’t, that’s your first step. And if you’re struggling to set clear, meaningful, and motivating goals, reach out to me. I can walk you through my process for setting 10X Goals — goals so big they excite you, scare you, and pull the best out of you.
Once you have those goals, this is the process for actually achieving them.
I’ve coached entrepreneurs, athletes, and high-achievers for years, and I’ve seen the same pattern over and over again: people set goals in January, get excited, and then… by February, they’re back to old habits.
Today, I’m going to give you the same process I use with my coaching clients — the exact step-by-step plan for how to set goals and actually achieve them. If you apply this, you’ll stop just “wanting” your goals and start living them.
Setting goals is easy. Achieving them is a different game.
The problem?
Most people treat their goals like wishes instead of commitments. They write them down once, hope motivation will stick around, and then let the chaos of life take over.
Here’s the kicker — motivation fades. Every. Single. Time.
If you’re relying on willpower alone, you’re already set up for failure.
That’s why you need two things:
That second one — your why — is non-negotiable. If you don’t know why you want something, you won’t fight for it when things get hard.
If you’ve never gone through the process of finding your true “why,” I highly recommend you read my post on the 7 Levels Deep process here: The Power of Knowing Your True Why.
Now, let’s talk about the system I teach in my coaching sessions.
This is exactly how I walk my clients through setting goals so they don’t just write them down — they actually make them happen.
Step 1: Read Your Goals Every Single Day
If your goals aren’t front of mind, they won’t survive.
Every day, read your goal list out loud. Let your brain soak in the fact that this is what we’re doing now. This daily reminder keeps your Reticular Activating System (RAS) working in your favor — constantly scanning for opportunities to move you closer to those goals.
Step 2: Pick Your Top 4 Goals
This is where people get stuck — they try to focus on 10–15 big goals at once.
Don’t.
Pick the four that matter most right now.
Don’t overthink why you chose them. You don't need to justify why you picked them. The fact that they’re on your mind means they’re important.
Step 3: Set Your Deadlines
Deadlines change everything. They turn vague dreams into concrete commitments.
If you say, “I want to hit this in a year,” that’s fine. But a year is too big to manage in your head. You need to break it down…
Step 4: Work Backwards From the End Date
Let’s say you want to hit your goal in 12 months.
Break that down into monthly targets. What exactly needs to happen each month to be on track?
When you know your monthly benchmarks, your progress is no longer a mystery — you can see if you’re winning or falling behind. That Big Hairy Audacious Goal is now manageable.
Step 5: Plan Weekly to Hit Your Monthly Targets
Every Sunday, make your weekly plan.
Ask yourself: What needs to happen this week for me to be on track for my monthly goal?
Write it down. Make it non-negotiable.
Step 6: Write & Visualize Your Goals Every Morning
This is one of the most powerful habits you can develop and include in your morning routine.
Physically write your four goals every morning. Then, take a moment to visualize what life looks like once they’re achieved. Feel it. See it. Let your mind rehearse success until it feels real.
Step 7: Daily Accountability (The “No Matter What” Tasks)
Every single day, choose one to four things you will do no matter what to move your weekly plan forward.
Not 10 things. Not a huge list. Just one to four actions that matter and will move the needle.
Then… do them. No excuses.
NOTE: When I'm doing accountability coaching with my clients I ask them to focus on the ONE most important task for their daily accountability. For this exercise we are focused on four of your goals and for that reason I'm saying to pick the one to four most important tasks each day. Do not pick more than one "Most Important Task" per goal that you are accountable for each day.
Here’s something most goal-setting advice misses — you can’t wait to “become” the kind of person who hits those goals.
You have to act from the identity of someone who’s already achieved them.
Think about it — if your goal is to be a marathon runner, you can’t wait until race day to start acting like one. You have to train, eat, and think like a runner now.
It’s the same in business, fitness, relationships — everything. Decide who your future self is, then show up as them today.
Without a deep emotional connection to your goals, you’ll quit the first time it gets hard.
When I take clients through the 7 Levels Deep exercise, they’re often shocked at what comes up. They’ll start with something surface-level like “I want more money” and end up realizing it’s really about freedom, security, or being able to provide for their family in a way they never could before.
That’s the kind of fuel that keeps you in the game when everyone else taps out.
If you haven’t gone through that process yet, do it now: The Power of Knowing Your True Why.
You don’t have to do this alone or keep it all in your head.
One of my favorite tools — and something I personally use — is the Mindset Journal.
It’s designed to keep you focused, help you write your goals daily, and hold yourself accountable. If you don’t have one yet, grab it here: Mindset Journal on Amazon.
It’s not just about tracking progress — it’s about programming your mind to expect success.

If you’ve been wondering how to set goals and actually achieve them, here’s the simplest daily flow:
his isn’t about perfection — it’s about consistency. The compound effect of small, daily wins is what creates massive results over time.
I’ve seen this process work for athletes chasing championships, entrepreneurs scaling businesses, and everyday people who just wanted to change their lives.
The only difference between the ones who succeed and the ones who quit? They commit to the process.
You can absolutely do this. And you don’t have to figure it out alone.
